Training HAB to talk like you
Customers respond best when your AI receptionist sounds like your business. HAB can be trained to match your tone and personality.
Set the tone and persona
On the Knowledge Base tab, open the Training Data section. Use Business Summary and Additional Guidance to shape how HAB talks:
- In Business Summary, add a short persona description — for example, "A polite, upbeat front-desk coordinator for a family-owned HVAC company."
- In Additional Guidance, add phrases you say often (or words to avoid) so HAB matches how your team really talks.
Write your greeting
On the Chat Settings tab, edit the Default first message — the greeting customers hear or read first. A good greeting:
- Names your business so callers know they reached the right place.
- Sounds welcoming and human.
- Invites the caller to explain what they need.
Example: "Thanks for calling Bright Electric! I can help you book a visit or answer a quick question — what's going on today?"
Set business hours
On the Business Info tab, set your Business Hours selectors. This controls which appointment slots HAB offers and how it responds after hours (for example, "We're closed right now, but I can book you for first thing tomorrow.").
Tip: Train like you'd onboard a new front-desk hire. The more real examples you give — how you greet people, how you describe your services — the more natural HAB sounds. Update it whenever your messaging changes.
After training, use the chat preview widget (floating chat bubble) on the bot page to test conversations live. To test voice, go to Bot Settings and click Test Audio with Current Settings to preview how your bot sounds.
