Creating and configuring your bot

Your bot is the AI agent that answers customers on your behalf. Setting it up takes just a few minutes.

Create your bot

  1. Open the Bot section from the left sidebar.
  2. Click Create Bot (or Add Bot).
  3. Give your bot a name — this is for your reference, not what customers hear.
  4. Choose your business type (roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, remodeling, painting, handyman, cleaning, or smart home). This pre-loads helpful defaults for your trade.
  5. Click Save to create the bot.

Configure the essentials

Once the bot exists, set these core options:

  • Greeting — The first line customers hear or read. Keep it warm and specific, e.g. "Thanks for calling Smith Plumbing — how can I help today?"
  • Business hours — When you're open. HAB uses this to decide which appointment slots to offer.
  • Phone number — Assign or connect the number HAB should answer. New numbers can be provisioned in Settings.
  • Chat widget — Toggle on the website chat widget and copy the embed snippet to add it to your site.
  • Fallback — Choose what HAB does if it can't help — for example, take a message, send to voicemail, or forward to a team member.

Note: Exact field names can vary by plan. If something here doesn't match your screen, look for the equivalent option in the Bot settings panel.

Save and review

Click Save after each change. Your edits apply the next time HAB answers — you don't need to restart anything. When you're ready, head to Testing your bot before going live to make sure everything sounds right.
