Creating and configuring your bot

Your bot is the AI agent that answers customers on your behalf. Setting it up takes just a few minutes.

Create your bot

  1. Open the Bot section from the left sidebar.
  2. Click Start Building Your AI.
  3. Enter your Website URL (required). You can also optionally upload business documents (PDF, DOCX, CSV, etc.).
  4. Submit the form to begin — HAB scans your site and builds the knowledge base automatically.

Bot Settings

On the Bot Settings tab, name your agent, set the time zone, and tune its voice, emotion, volume, and speaking speed.

Configure the essentials

Once the bot exists, set these core options on the Bot page:

Greeting

Under Chat Settings, edit the Default first message — the first line customers see in chat. Keep it warm and specific, e.g. "Thanks for calling Smith Plumbing — how can I help today?"

Chat Settings — set the bot title, default first message (greeting), and quick action buttons.

Business hours

On the Business Info tab, set your Business Hours selectors. HAB uses this to decide which appointment slots to offer.

Phone number

On the Call Settings tab, assign or connect the phone number HAB should answer. New numbers can be provisioned from here.

Chat widget

Go to the Add to your website section, generate the embed snippet and paste it into your site so visitors can chat with HAB.

Fallback

Under Knowledge Base → Training Profile, use the Unknown-Answer Policy text field to describe what HAB should do when it can't answer (e.g., take a message, ask for callback details, or escalate).

Save and review

A floating Save bar appears at the bottom whenever there are unsaved changes. Click Save to apply everything at once — your edits take effect the next time HAB answers.

Bot setup progress — track which steps you've completed and what's left before going live.

When you're ready, head to Testing your bot before going live to make sure everything sounds right.
